The topic for this year’s 2024-2025 Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest:
"My Voice in America's Democracy" for students in 6th – 8th grades.
The VFW Auxiliary is proud to offer and participate in scholarship contests that help further the education of our nation’s youth, our members, and their immediate family members. Please promote these programs within your auxiliary.
Remember, scholarship reports are due Dec 1st and April 1st. If you have questions concerning scholarships please text, e-mail or call and I will get back with you in short order. Applications and rules for all contest can be found on www.vfwauxiliary.org/scholarships and in Malta Member Resources or I can provide them to you.
Continuing Education Scholarship essay contest is open to any VFW Auxiliary Member, their spouse, son, or daughter who are at least 18 years of age, who wants to further their education by pursuing a college degree. Winner of this contest will win $1250. All entries must be mailed to National and Received by February 15, 2025.
Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest is open to all students, 9th -12th grades enrolled in public, private or home study program. Student’s artwork must be done on paper or canvas. Watercolors, pencil, pastel, charcoal, tempera, crayon, acrylic, pen and ink or oil may be used. Artwork is to be 2 dimensional, please see application for rules and criteria. There are 19 National Scholarships ranging from $500 to $15,000. Digital art is NOT ACCEPTED. Students must submit their artwork to sponsoring Auxiliary by March 31, 2025.
3-Dimensional Patriotic Art Contest is open to all students, 9th -12th grades enrolled in public, private or home study program. 3-Dimensional Art accepts paper, paper-mâché, fabric, metalwork, pottery, wood, etc. Artwork is to be 3 dimensional, please see application for rules and criteria. There are 3 National Scholarships ranging from $500 to $2500. Digital art is NOT ACCEPTED. Students must submit their artwork to sponsoring Auxiliary by March 31, 2025.
The Voice of Democracy contest is open to all students grades 9 -12 enrolled in public, private or home school programs. Students should record a 3–5 minute essay on a flash drive with this year’s theme and label it with their name. They must also have a typed copy of the essay and a completed entry form to submit the entry for judging. Students should have their entries to their sponsoring post by October 31, 2024.
The Patriot’s Pen essay contest is open to any 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students enrolled in public, private, or home school program. The students should submit a typed essay of 300-400 words to their sponsoring post no later than October 31st, 2024.
